(You're receiving this email because you subscribed to The Explorer's Log via Substack or explorerannie.com.) Hey Reader! Tomorrow, I fly home from Toronto. (BTW, it feels amazing to finally call Olympia ‘home’!). This trip has been exactly what I needed after a chaotic summer, and I’ll have plenty more to share in the weeks and months to come. ☺️ I must say, I didn’t expect so many of you to respond to my last email! Hearing the different ways you navigate your own transition periods was very encouraging. Thank you! 🙏 Your stories were so genuine and insightful! You taking the time to share your experiences really got me thinking more deeply about… Why do I feel compelled to share this little life of mine in such a public way? 🤔 My discovery: Sharing my stories, insights, and experiences isn't because I think they’re so unique or interesting. In reality, it’s because I believe they’re quite common for those of us who feel stifled by many aspects of mainstream life. Choosing a path that feels true to our unique explorer nature means embracing all the fear, uncertainty, wonder, and beautiful chaos that come with it. It’s not the easy way, but it certainly helps to know that we’re not alone in the quest! 💚 The lessons we learn from travel can also help us in our journey toward a more joyful and authentic life! 💯 Once upon a time, my writing focused solely on the practical elements of travel. It felt safe. It was much easier to share tips and tricks than my own stories. Now, playing it safe feels stifling. As I’m building a new life in a new place, exploration looks more like writing books and building community than hopping flights for international adventures. Traveling abroad will always have a place in my life, but it’s not the priority right now. I'm ready to expand the conversation to include exploration as a lifestyle, a way of moving through the world with curiosity, creativity, and courage as our guides. Are you? No matter how we explore, the same desire for discovery that makes for epic adventures around the world also helps us navigate life’s twists and turns. 🧠 Food for Thought:
If you enjoy these emails and want more, consider supporting by leaving a tip. Current Explorations 🧭🌎 Intentional Travel: Sometimes intentional travel means not traveling. I’m considering postponing my trip to Southeast Asia until 2027 so that I can focus on life in our new homeland. Turns out, in order to build a life in a new place, you need to actually be there. Who knew?! 🤪 🏡 Everyday Adventures: I’m now in the process of editing the rough draft of my book, which is a whole new learning process. We’re also on the hunt for our forever home (seriously, I have no desire to move ever again), which is both exciting and daunting in equal measure. ✨ Inner Journeys: Continually wondering what to do with your life? It’s probably hiding in plain sight. A dear friend sent me this article, saying she heard it in my voice (highest possible compliment)! It’s spot fucking on. What do you think? Other Updates ✨As I get ready to return home from Toronto, I’ve been thinking about what I would like to create next (besides books, emails, and blogs). I have 9,263 ideas (always), and am having a difficult time choosing which to work on first. Help me decide! BTW, I’m still totally in love with providing astrology readings! It’s such a delight to see folks light up and feel totally validated by what’s written in their stars. Here’s what one client had to say about our recent session:
Annie provided a fascinating dive into the effect of celestial bodies on the trajectory of my personal life path. There was a clear overlap between lived experience and the story that the planetary positions told. I asked questions relating to current issues I am facing and received guidance and wisdom from Annie and her intuitive reading of my chart. Her trove of knowledge was apparent. I benefited practically from her timely wisdom. ~Paradie S.
If you’re curious to see what wisdom your own chart holds, you can book a session here. That’s it for this round! I hope that you found something here that’s relatable to your journey. I always love to hear from you, so hit reply and tell me what’s new with you! Until next time, adventure on, my friend! Cheers, Annie |
Helping adventurous misfits and curious dreamers create an authentic and joyful life outside the lines. I focus on self-discovery, intentional living, and travel, both abroad and in your own backyard.
If you knew how many different times I’ve started, deleted, and restarted this email, you’d probably think I’m losing it! (Maybe I am!) 😜 While I have much to share, finding the words is proving to be more difficult than usual. In the interest of conserving time and energy on both our parts, I’ll do my level best to keep this concise. The new beginning that was ushered in with the Year of the Fire Horse has been shaking things up in more unexpected (and beautiful) ways! Plot Twist: I accepted...
Damn, I’ve been struggling to sit down and put words on the page lately. Even this supposedly simple email has felt like a monumental task. Not because I don’t want to write, but because there’s so much happening! Much of it is still playing out, and I don’t quite have the words for it all just yet. Suffice it to say that pretty much every area of my life is getting a complete fucking overhaul right now. 🔥 Though I’ve never really followed Chinese astrology, what I am familiar with feels...
